A balustrade is an architectural element that ensures safety from falls, and thus installed on terraces, balconies, staircases, etc., without being a solid and opaque face. It is made up of a spaced series of vertical pieces called BALUSTERS, which are set on a foundation or PLINTH and then support a rail or HANDRAIL. Balustrades can be divided into separate sections by PILASTERS, which are small columns that add an elegant bearing to the overall construction. We recommend intercalating pilasters every 4 or 5 metres.
